Each flat top belly tanker is classed as a special build. GLT has two dedicated staff who are intrusted to undertake these highly customised projects. Lead and tag units are custom built to suit your particular needs. Our proven designs allow for an even distribution of weight when fully loaded. We use minimal amounts of steel to keep the tare weight low.
The tanks are hand built from 5083 grade aluminium sheeting making a light yet strong unit. Baffles are placed at custom intervals to reduce internal damage from the movement of the liquid goods. Capacities range from 12,000 litres for lead trailers to 25,000 litres for tag trailers.
Upper decks of the trailers can be finished with gates or full curtain sides with aerodynamic nose cones. The highest quality parts are sourced to manufacture each GLT unit. All nuts, bolts and washers are stainless steel. Every trailer is professionally detailed before it is delivered to the customer.
All GLT trailers are laser wheel aligned prior to delivery. GLT flat top belly tankers are available in tandem, tri or quad axle configurations. We have a large range of options to customise your new trailer. See below for some of our most popular options.
The belly tank is crafted from European sourced marine grade aluminium plate. Tank volumes are designed to suit your application.
Tanker inlet dimensions and spacing are custom made to suit. Each tanker gets a 2’ vent to reduce the risk of damage when filling and discharging. Outlets are typically 8’ and can be set up with manual or pneumatic controls.
Select from either 5’ aluminium gates or curtain sides. Curtain side options include 1 sliding post per side, full aluminium roof, 150mm heavy duty front wall and aero nose cone.
Coamings are constructed from 140mm I-Beam extruded aluminium. Top rails come standard with provisions for side gates
Fronius machines are used to create superior welds on all aluminium sections.
Our tankers use a chassis-less design. Strength comes from the hand crafted aluminium tank structure that is incorporated into the front and rear modules.
Quenched and tempered 700 grade mechanical steel is joined to the front module to form the skid plate area. Steel suspension hangers are joined to the rear module to complete the back end of the trailer.
For further weight savings we have an aluminium suspension hanger option for the Hendrickson and SAF brands on tag units. This will further decrease tare weight by around 150kg.
GLT chassis are optimised for Hendrickson Intraax airbag suspension and axles. Other brands such as BPW, SAF and K-Hitch can be optioned. Subtle design changes are made to the chassis to accommodate these different suspension brands ride characteristics.
GLT trailers are designed to handle the harsh Australian conditions. The correct suspension and axle selection is one of the most important factors in the trailers' ability to survive our unique roads.
GLT chassis are optimised for Hendrickson INTRAAX air bag suspension and Hendrickson axles. Other brands such as BPW, SAF and K-Hitch can also be equipped if requested. GLT is an authorised Hendrickson dealer which allows us to offer greater after-sales support.
Air bag suspension offers better ride quality, low tare weight and simplified ways of reading load weights. The prefered brands which we supply have passed our field testing protocol and have excellent after sales support. All trailers with air bag suspension are equipped with ball valve taps to isolate individual bags. These taps will allow you to shut off an air bag if it has an issue.
Top decks can be optioned with aluminium side gates. Front and rear gates are made from galvanised steel.
Give your flat top belly tanker a professional look with digital printed curtains. Front and rear walls are constructed from marine grade aluminium with plywood wood support. The roof is fabricated from .8mm thick aluminium.
Improve your trailer's aerodynamics by adding an aero nose cone. Rumour has it that you should see a 2-4% improvement in fuel savings.
Choose from a range of colours. Our standard brand is Maxus with other brands such as Truckmate. Our radius guards are mounted to the chassis by a 8mm thick alumimium bracket, making them very strong and stable.
Dress up your radius guards with chrome dress strips. These look great and finish off the guard area nicely.
If you want the bling look then stainless steel radius guards are the go. We recommend the ribbed type as they hold up to rougher conditions better.
The simple clean way to finish off the guards on a B trailer. Horse hair is added to reduce water spray.
Built to handle the harsh Australian environment. Rubber can range in thickness and colour.
These special valves recognise the difference in axle load and adjust braking force.
Another well-known EBS unit popular with our clients. This unit offers stability control and EBS braking. Knorr Bremse offer excellent technical aftersales support.
If safety is high on your list when operating, then you need to consider the Wabco EBS system. This electrically-controlled braking system helps to reduce the risk of serious accidents.
This is a must-have option for our RediTip range of trailers. As the trailer approaches jack knife, the EBS system will activate the brakes to save your trailers from damage.
