Moving floor

Overview

Looking for big cubes, you have come to the right place. Each GLT moving floor unit is purpose built for the application. We offer a range of specs that allow you to haul materials such as wet products, rubbish, woodchips and construction waste.

Lead B-Double units are a rollback style. The body rolls to the rear position on the chassis via two hydraulic cylinders before discharging. Tag trailers can be either straight or wedge style. Select from a range of industry leading floor manufacturers which include Keith, Matilda and Cargo Floor.

Each moving floor has a full stainless steel rear bar and rear post assembly. All nuts, bolts and washers are stainless steel.

Every trailer is professionally detailed before it is delivered to the customer. All GLT trailers are laser wheel aligned prior to delivery. GLT walking floors are available in tandem, tri or quad axle configurations. We have a large range of options to customise your new moving floor. See below for some of our most popular options.

Body

All GLT aluminium bodies are fabricated from European sourced marine grade aluminium plate. Floor and wall sheet thicknesses can be customised to suit the application.

Top coamings are also an exclusive aluminium extrusion. These specialised extrusions increase the tub body strength while maintaining exceptional tare weight. All top coamings are either huck riveted or bolted with stainless steel bolts. This method of construction allows the coaming to flex and reduces the risk of cracking.
Fronius machines are used to create superior welds on all aluminium sections.

Body type options include

Straight Body – This body type is standard on lead rollback moving floors. Tag moving floors can select this option or the wedge body type (see below).

Wedge Body – To achieve maximum cubic capacity our engineers have given the floor a 1 degree drop. This gives you a 240mm drop over a 45’ unit.

Side wall options include

Plate – Lower sections are formed from 10mm plate which is then joined to 8mm plate midway up the wall. Mill finish plate is used which can be left raw or painted.

Plank – GLT custom extruded planks. These are ideal for maximum height bodies as they reduce the amount of side wall bulge.

Front sheet options include

Flat Front Sheet for Plate Side – Our standard front sheet for a Walking Floor is 5mm thick with a polished finish. Other thicknesses and finishes are available.

Plank Style – This option will match the finish of a plank sided trailer.

Steel modules

All our chassis are fabricated from 700-grade mechanical steel with quenched and tempered skid plates. Minor amounts of 350 and 250 grade steel are used for small profile gussets.

Each chassis is 3D modelled and laser cut. Our steel fabrication team are highly skilled qualified tradesmen. Miller digital pulse welders are used which lay a clean weld.

All edges on flanges are sanded and polished to reduce the chances of cracking and also to help paint adhere to the steel.

Wanting further weight savings on your moving floor? Then select our aluminium beams, cross members and suspension hanger option. This will reduce trailer tare weight by around 600kg.

GLT chassis are optimised for Hendrickson Intraax airbag suspension and axles. Other brands such as BPW, SAF and K-Hitch can be optioned. Subtle design changes are made to the chassis to accommodate these different suspension brands ride characteristics.

Suspension

GLT trailers are designed to handle the harsh Australian conditions. The correct suspension and axle selection is one of the most important factors in the trailers’ ability to survive our unique roads.

GLT chassis are optimised for Hendrickson INTRAAX air bag suspension and Hendrickson axles. Other brands such as BPW, SAF and K-Hitch can also be equipped if requested. GLT is an authorised Hendrickson dealer which allows us to offer greater after-sales support.

Air bag suspension offers better ride quality, low tare weight and simplified ways of reading load weights. The prefered brands which we supply have passed our field testing protocol and have excellent after sales support. All trailers with air bag suspension are equipped with ball valve taps to isolate individual bags. These taps will allow you to shut off an air bag if it has an issue.

Mechanical spring suspension can be fitted to most GLT trailers. K-Hitch KHDO/KHU and FW88 are our preferred suspension models.
